California Democratic Party Delegates Support Props 1A-F
Delegates to the California Democratic Party Convention in Sacramento today voted to support all of the measures on the May 19 ballot and to formally endorse Propositions 1B, 1C and 1F. Opponents used a supermajority quirk in party rules that require a 60 percent approval vote for an endorsement. That means the California Democratic Party officially is neutral on Props 1A, 1D and 1E. Prop 1A was supported by a strong 58 percent of delegates and both Props 1D and 1E were supported by more than half of the delegates. The floor votes on the initiatives came after the Party's Resolutions Committee overwhelmingly approved the ballot initiatives. The Party's support of the initiatives is in stark contrast to the California Republican Party's rejection of the measures. “Today's California Democratic Party vote showed that there is strong support for budget reform among Democrats and is a real win for this campaign to protect our schools, healthcare for our children and seniors, resources for firefighters and law enforcement officers and many other vital services the people of Californiadepend on from the volatility of the state’s and broken budget system,” said Lou Paulson, President of California Professional Firefighters, in a press release after the vote. Actually, this comment is more appropriate in response to one of the other sudden rash of posts here after a long hiatus. But it won't be hard for folks to place. Steve, it's the Democrat Socialist Party, not the Democrat PartyPosted by: be_devine on April 27, 2009Apparently you've been watching so much FauxNews to get pointers on doomsday fearmongering that you've picked up referring to the Democratic Party as the "Democrat Party." Classy. Oh, and I'm not sure what election is happening on May 11th, but I'll be following the results with bated breath. Nothing like the party establishment screeching that they've been victimized by the party establishment's long-standing rules. Ratings |

Promoting CMR in 2006
Posted by: Bill Bradley on April 26, 2009You know, when I promoted this site heavily in 2006, it was on the premise that it would be a serious discussion/debate about California's "Democratic" future amongst serious players. Not the latest press release download/advance of hack Democratic politics ... i.e., pols willing to pay.
